Great post.

in future, instead of just putting a reply of emoticons,

In this case 'Help' expands to explaining what point your emoticons are trying (but failing) to get across.

To the others though, i think he's most likely trying to say the way in which he is signalling is 'wrong' as he is faced forward, with his arm covering areas of vision.

nah, i think he just thinks it looks like the roman salute

That's the only thing I could think of, but I know fine well what the nazi salute is and it ain't that.

Just add to that, when you do that, you'll be given a URL for the image. You post that on here inside IMG tags. So basically .

Felt dead weird, they all smoke in pubs, hotels, rooms, everywhere. Its amazing how I (as a non smoker) appreciate what we have here now. My 16 year old son never got asked for ID once and took full advantage.

I have a photo of a drinking game his mate got involved with that would truly make you eyes water!

It involved a 6" branding Iron in the shape of a pair of lips and a backside and about 10 shots. I wasnt there but the brand will be their forever!. Ill try and download it.

As promised. Probably for another section or forum but what the hell!

Young members. Let this be a warning, drinking is WRONG! It should only be attempted under adult supervision! LOL

2 more from youth regionals and then I'll stop. These may look a little different since they are scans of prints.

Note: the kid in black was not the one getting the caution. No one needs to tell me that I shouldn't show the caution to his back. The "winner" was just off camera to the left. I'm pretty sure that this was the 5th of 6 cautions I had to show during that match, which should explain the look of disgust on my face.

I earned an assignment on a final this year, specifically AR1 on the U16 Boys match. I took it as a big honor, and I was pretty happy to get the complete Adidas kit. I still have to laugh about the fact that I won't be allowed to wear that for any other match I ever work.

Not amusing, and no it doesn't. I have to tell you, with my partial German heritage, I'm actually offended by that.

Much as I am loathed to sticking up for Dan when he gets himself in a hole, I have to take his side in this instance.

Dan thought it was funny; to some it is; me included. The ref's pose does bear a slight resemblance to the salute of the National Socialist German Workers Party; which was a POLITICAL Party.

That salute was in use WAY BEFORE the Party was infiltrated by a bunch of anti-Semitic nutters, responsible for one of the worst perpetrations of genocide in the last century, and I am sure even Dan is aware of what happened; even if history wasn't his favourite subject at school.

He certainly did not intend any offence, and he is not suggesting that the murder of 6 million Jews is either funny or acceptable.

Nobody complained when John Cleese, Freddie Star, et al make fun of the NSDAP, so lets not get our knickers in a twist JUST because it's Dan.

Come on guys; lighten up.

As for you Timeref, Dan is in no way saying the ref supports/is supporting the NSDAP. Feel free to show me where he says he is?

For heavens sake, some poeple REALLY need to get a sense of hum.

Perhaps because its a picture of me... that I posted.

On the other hand, if you don't get it already, you probably won't understand anytime soon.

As well as a sense of humour, some people would also benefit from thinking prior to clicking the 'Add Reply' button.

The only expansion that I can think of is that if people considered whether what they wrote could actually be offensive to somebody then we wouldn't have an issue. Also, remaining on topic would greatly help.

Incidentally, the picture that has caused an issue does not actually show a 'Nazi' salute, so the whole basis for this is completely flawed anyway.

History was my favourite subject at GCSE, and I am taking it at A Level. I am well aware of what happened in Nazi Germany.

It wasn't meant to be offensive, and I still don't see how it can be offensive.

The Oxford English Dictionary ( OED ) supports Dr. Rex Curry's discovery that the Hitler salute originated in the United States . ohmy.gif

Dr. Curry helped to establish that it was not an ancient Roman salute , and that the ' ancient Roman salute ' is a modern myth ..............

When the term ' Roman salute ' developed , the straight arm salute was a decades-old ritual in government schools in the USA where the gestured was compelled with robotic chanting of the Pledge of Allegiance .

Which basically means the Natzi's pinched it from the USA in the first place and it had nothing to do with Caesar . wink.gif

If you visit Rome you're going to see lots of this kind of salutes on old monuments dated in Roman times. That doctor is very very wrong.

Someone has finally taken some pictures of me so I can contribute to this thread!!

Here's me (lino with the yellow flag) before the match alongside a couple of buddies before Mossley vs Springhead. The combined age of the officials that night was 49 (17+16+16).

http://4.bp.blogspot...ic7736small.jpg

And again after the match.

http://3.bp.blogspot...ic7875small.jpg

2 penalties, an awful lot of sweat, two debatable goal line incidents, an awful lot of shouting, a couple of tellings off and 9 goals later, we still look good smile.gif

Hopefully, a few more pics will be uploaded on the photographers blog and there maybe a few action shots. Also, rumour has it a short highlights video is being put together - should be interesting!!

The player in the white shirt looks dead happy to be there rolleyes.gif

Not half. Mind you, if I played for Mossley, I'd be pretty depressed as well!!

Someone has finally taken some pictures of me so I can contribute to this thread!!

Here's me (lino with the yellow flag) before the match alongside a couple of buddies before Mossley vs Springhead. The combined age of the officials that night was 49 (17+16+16).

Interesting sponsorship name on the skippers shirt .

A whole host of more photos for your enjoyment. Sadly, no video as yet. Once again Mossley vs Springhead.

http://mossleysmiffy...ySpringheadPSF/

Look closely at the second picture on the second row. A Mossley player (white) was fouled and after we adjurned as to whether it is was in the box or not, Springhead (red) looked aghast when a penalty was given. However, subsequent slow-mo replays from numerous angles (more like good timing and luck by the bloke with the camera) proved that we were right!!

I think it was the lads first goal for the club and decided to celebrate with, shall we say, a less than impressive gymnastics routine that failed spectacularly!! When this bleedin' highlights video gets posted then you'll see what I mean.

Not amusing, and no it doesn't. I have to tell you, with my partial German heritage, I'm actually offended by that.

It's amazing just how paranoid Hitler was. In Nazi Germany it was illegal to make jokes about Hitler or the Nazi regime.

Come on!!!!! Forbidding us from making jokes? Isn't that a bit like forbidding Americans from eating salad? LOL

I've got some American guests visiting this week, so my wife told me to start making preparations...
such as lubricating the doorframes so they can squeeze through........

My main question would be why the refereeing team allowed the player to play with the long sleeved black top clearly showing beneath his white jersey sleeves.

ATTENTION: Video has now been uploaded, at last!! Once again, I'm with the yellow flag.

Unbelievably, I can't see a single bad decision: penalties, offsides and goal-line incidents were bang on. Damn, we were good!!

And you can now see the horrifically bad celebration.

I'd like to take this opportunity to blow my own trumpet for a second, as my decision to not give offside on Mossley goal no. 5 was spot on - player clearly behind the ball.

And you can now see the horrifically bad celebration.

What about the `penalty` decision on 1`36` surely a booking for simulation, or am I missing something. Pray tell Joe.....
