Simple, it's to cover your butt. If you give the red accidentally instead of a yellow, you can just say it's actually a yellow tongue.gif If anyone questions you, pull out a proper red.

Seriously though, I have a similar pair and have never used them. In my mind, they are uglier and make a mockery of the yellow and red card concept.

If you need a fluorescent card, it might be time to abandon.

Guys, Fluorescent cards were designed to be used on evening games under floodlights. Plain, dull cards cannot be seen clearly or not at all depending on the yellow colour.

I got given a set of FIFA ones a while ago, and i think they are great for evening games.

Good point - I should have thought of that before I posted

It is a shame that the website picture makes out that the red card is, well, red.

Adidas ref is spot on, have you ever seen a non fluo card issued in a floodlight game from a distance cant see the colour.

Actually from a distance even during the day the fluo cards look well red and yellow.

I think if its good enough for all the FIFA refs in the world it should be good enough for us!

I have that set and a set that has the USSF logo on them (I'm from the United States.) They're quite popular over here because we tend to wear a brighter colored jersey in all games below the pro level, and sometimes the plain colors just aren't as fun. I like them anyway.

I use them. Have some FIFA ones too but they look even more neon yellow and orange than the USSF variety. I generally keep those in my book because they are quite sturdy and use the USSF ones in my pockets to show players. I actually sent a player off with my FIFA red card only once. Another play exclaimed "Orange!!! What does that mean?" Never showed it again.

I have various red and yellow cards of all different shades. This helps when under fllod lights which is very rare for me, and when the weather is cloudy or bright sunshine. There has been occassions where coaching staff have struggled to see what card i'm showing. Trial and error. I find majority of the time a normal pair of standard cards is good enough for the job.

With the majority of kit with all it's variantsa is all about trial and error.

I've got the Fluorsecent Cards, thought they were ok until I booked someone and was then asked why I'd shown them a green card....

The best clue about the colour is whether the player in question leaves the pitch or not.

I've done more than my share of games under floodlights and no-one's ever made any comment about the visibility of my cards. I suppose if I ever used them they may do ...

Yes, agree. I've refereed hundreds of games, many under floodlights, and to date no-one has ever said they couldn't see the colour of the card. I just use bog standard cards out of the wallet, nothing special.

Now, plenty of people have told me they saw the card but didn't agree with it, but that is a different story altogether .....

I don't know why, but i find the cards out of the wallet too small. Maybe i have big hands, or its the way i show them, but i must cover a good lot of colour when i show them!

I have a great big yellow and red card. Can't get them mixed up!

Never had a problem with the colours being distinguished. I couldn't even tell you where mine came from - just bog standard ones.

Maybe these places have got a problem with the quality of their floodlights ??

Although card sponsorship from Fray and Bentos is quite unusual!

I use the USSF fluorescent cards during my games and have gotten the green card? or orange card? question once or twice. I still like the quality of these cards and will continue to use them. Just a question: I have scene these fifa cards, and was wondering how/where you can get them. (or if you can't if you are not at a professional level like me) Thanks

As it happens I have a set of red and yellow cards with the FIFA logo on ,they were given away free with a FIFA magazine some seven or eight years ago now . Still in their celophane packet and unused . I use the standard wallet red and yellow cards , never had a problem and they have not expired their sell-by date yet , which is along the edge of the card from what I can make out . laugh.gif

I thought the F*** word was banned on this forum, as it brings back to many memories of closed threads gone by...
