I had one of those really boring games yesterday, 12 -1 to the home team so I spent most of the match in the opponents half. I usually cover around 4-5 miles in a game, yesterday I did 3.66, that tells you how boring it was. Anyway, my left hand (the one I write with) got so cold that when I booked one player I could hardly write. And when I went to to put the report in last night I couldn't read what I had written! I just about managed out make out a surname so I sent it in with what I think is his first initial. Will the FA Accept that?
We don't get team sheets handed to us so I couldn't look his name up on that.

Hi Philk
If the team has one player with that surname then it is okay. The Disciplinary secretary will see the players detail and record the caution against that individual. I can be tricky if say there are three players with the same surname and none by the initial given. DSs usually sort it out though from my experience.

3.66miles eh... most of that was walking back to the halfway line to restart play!
Only ever worn gloves once but you do sometimes book a little less on cold days...... just a little tip for self preservation!

I have had similar on a freezing cold day and sometimes can't read my own writing .
If no team sheets are available or my writing is that bad that I can't distinguish a name similar to that on a team sheet if provided , then I'll either ring the league registration secretary and ask if a team has a player with the name similar to that which I have wrote down or I'll check on the FAs ' Full-Time ' site for that league as sometimes they list the players names against that particular fixture .
Last resort would be to ring the club secretary of the team involved for help e.g what was the name of your player I cautioned as my hands were that cold I can't read my own writing , and just have a laugh about it .
And failing all else I'll try and keep my cards in my pocket and just mark the goals scored down which can also be a chore on a freezing cold day if one team is taking a severe bashing .
